Natural disasters fall into three broad groups:

Those caused by movements of the Earth. These occur with the minimum amount of warning and include earthquakes, volcanic eruptions and tsunamis.

A natural disaster usually has significant impact on our society directly or indirectly. Earthquakes can be caused by the shifting of tectonic plates.
